This week should be a slower week in the markets now that most of the company earnings are out of the way and there is little significant US economic data coming out this week.

Weekly Market Commentary - April 27, 2008
This week should be interesting as we have the FOMC announcement on Wed at 11:15am PST and based on what I hear, the consensus is to cut by 25 basis points. Based on the economic data that has been coming out, it looks like the US economy is slowly recovering and the Fed doesnt need to be aggressive on the rate cuts.

Weekly Market Commentary - March 12, 2008
The stock market is extremely ugly out there especially with the poor employment report that was released last Friday. The report essentially confirmed that the US economy is in very poor shape right now and there are no signs (at least right now) that the US economy will recover at any point.

Dollar-Neutral Crude Oil - by Adam Hamilton, CPA
April 25, 2008
Crude oil is one of the hottest commodities on the planet these days.  Almost without respite, it has surged 16% in April alone!  It closed at new all-time record highs on 8 of the past 11 trading days.

Big HUI Daily Moves - by Adam Hamilton, CPA
April 04, 04, 2008
For precious-metals stock traders, weathering outsized volatility is a fact of life. Yet again over the last few weeks this truth was really driven home. The flagship HUI gold-stock index experienced some neck-snapping swings. And this generated much angst for those not yet steeled against such extreme volatility

JUNIOR GOLD STOCKS 3 - by Scott Wright
March 28, 2008
“Junior gold stocks” is a three-word expression that for some breeds dismay, trepidation, and anger.  But for others it illuminates excitement, opportunity, and profits.  Regardless of which camp an investor resides, one thing is for certain.  During this fantastic 7-year-running secular gold bull, the junior gold stock realm has been host to a highly-volatile range of sentimental extremes.

BAIL ME OUT BENNIE - by Peter Schiff
March 28, 2008
Now that the Fed and the Treasury Department have clumsily come to the rescue of the financial titans of Wall Street, it is now politically dangerous to resist similar pleas from just about everybody else.  Populism is emerging as a dominant theme is this election year, and with so much largesse showered on Bear Stearns and JP Morgan Chase, politicians are demanding even more generous terms for consumers.

WHY THE RICH ARE GETTING POORER - by John Browne
March 14 - 2008
As our consumer dominated economy faces the threat of imminent stagflation (economic recession and financial inflation at the same time), losses will not be limited to the poor.  Many get-rich-quick investors also will become poorer!

REAL RATES AND USDX - by Adam Hamilton, CPA
March 07, 2008
After sliding to its lowest levels in history this week, the flagging US dollar has captured the limelight.  And it certainly should.  The dollar is like nothing else, a critical linchpin that links every market and asset of global importance.  The implications of the dollar’s fall from grace are profound and universal.

SIGNS OF THE TIMES - by Bob Hoye
March 03, 2008
Considering that it is a world of serial bubble-blowing, one can't help but wonder how so many participants get trapped at the top.  Yes, the mania in residential housing has had its unique aspects, but the housing market became rather intense along with the impetuous action in crude oil, gold and silver that climaxed in the first part of 1980.

HUI LEVERAGE TO GOLD 4 - by Adam Hamilton, CPA
February 08, 2008 As a stock-market sector, gold stocks are obscure, increasingly volatile, and seemingly perpetually unloved. Yet investors and speculators choose to own them anyway.
